Am I actually quite glad I'm not in Oakland right now/these past few days.

Also, thank God my mom parks her car in a parking lot away from downtown with a locked gate. Shit. Protesters gone mob crazy.

Protests over BART shooting turn violent

So what is there to protest at this point, exactly? That BART is determined to exterminate, discriminate against minorities? That the officer has been cleared of wrongdoing? The BART cops were reacting to a brawl among thugs at two am, there was some kind of incident and one of the thugs died, and everyone is sorry it happened. Do these protesters want someone swinging from a telephone pole, or what? An investigation is going on, the truth will emerge. The problem is, when a black is violently killed in a way other than the usual method, conspiracy and other grievances are vented, it acts as a lightning rod that often sets the stage for more violence, riots, and excesses, which is then ascribed to the uncaring and racist society at large.

And this is how this sector of society seeks and demands respect? Then they wonder why everyone glances a suspicious and/or fearful eye at them. Here's why, dumb @sses. It's been demonstrated once again for all to see. They're their own worse enemies. Talk about shooting oneself in the foot. Get a clue and act like respectful citizens and see if anything changes. What began as a righteous demonstration of support, once again plunged rapidly into nothing more than a mob free-for-all bent on indescriminant destruction under guise of something honorable. Are they fooling themselves? If so, no one else is fooled. It's just another over-the-top demonstration of the self-prerpetuating victim mentality of this ilk of our community. Just think how nice Oakland would be if everyone acted like an adult, was respectful of others, and acted with dignity and self restraint. One can have a dream....
