San Diego Critical Mass: April

Critical Mass San Diego 27.04.11

Cool! They rode through the airport! Sad I forgot about CM or else I would've had a more eventful Friday night that day. But that deal at PB looks a little troubling.
Good music choice, though, to whoever made the video.

...30+miles??!
The most I've ever cycled at one time was 8-10 miles—LEISURELY.

not quite ready for tomorrow.

equalization

"I think the bicycle has done more to emancipate women than anything else in the world," feminist pioneer Susan B. Anthony said in 1896. "It gives a woman a feeling of freedom and self-reliance. The moment she takes her seat she knows she can't get into harm unless she gets off her bicycle, and away she goes, the picture of free, untrammeled womanhood."
Same goes for blacks and other minorities.

Now everyone—women, minorities— need to catch on and get on their bikes again.
But this time not get a general "feeling of freedom", but freedom from cars/oil/megacorporations/modern day evils.

winning in Berlin

Juergen's Tale Of Two Cities III Release Party, etnies.europe.
Two weeks ago Juergen and his friends celebrated the TOTC III shoe release Party in cooperation with Planet Sports and Skatehalle Berlin.
The Vert Ramp Jam hosted by Juergen Horrwarth was breathtaking and took place in a high level, at the end Sam Einstein and the Berlin Local Johan Borchert were delighted to have won two Wildcards for the CLASH 2011 Vert Ramp Jam sponsored by Relentless. A traditional BBQ with special food from Juergen's hometown and Swabian beer made the event into a round relaxed event surrounded by Juergen's friends.
add that to the list of places I missed checking out while in Berlin for half a year.
The winner, Sam, is from Venice Beach. No wonder he pwned, right?
was a fellow UC EAP'er, but he decided to stay for an entire year.

Armin van Buuren coming to San Diego!

Armin van Buuren is coming to San Diego!!
Saturday 28.05.11 at the Hard Rock Hotel (21+).
*SOLD-OUT* —It's sort of a small venue. :[

He is so handsome in this press photo.
Would be more noticable except that he only doesn't smile very rarely.
Whenever he smiles, though, (probably 90% of the time, and maybe even smiles in his sleep), he's just super cute.

TentSurf 2011!

The organizer, Jon Cordoba, has turned that epic event into an annual gathering currently based in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico. Also known as Rocky Point, the beach town on the Sea of Cortez is an up-and-coming tourist destination in Northern Mexico far from the border communities. Last year in its new location, the event drew more than 250 couchsurfers, and is now gearing up for the fun shenanigans again in 2011. The event will be held this coming June 9-12th.

The event isn’t all a party. Aside from the party boat, ultra light rides, hikes, snorkeling, pub crawls, tent decorating contests, pillow fights and musical acts on stage, the group has organized workshops and delivered donations to local orphanages in the past. The event encourages attendees to “dream up what you would like to contribute at the campout,” but advises that “whatever is dreamed up in those wonderful minds of yours; please make sure that we can clean it up easily. We do not want to disrupt or destroy the beauty of our surroundings.”

THE DREAM TEAM.
DJ PHILLY.

Crystal Castles I've seen before once or twice, if I recall correctly. Not so into them. Listening to their complete album—way too much keyboard crunchiness and wild sounds.

Jimmy Eat World — why not
that Wiz kid — saw a few music vids, flow seems alright
JFK of MSTRKRFT — of course
LA Riots — I feel like I may have seen them before, too. I dunno. Really can't recall. Or maybe I've just seen their names on enough rave flyers to have made my mind think I might have wandered to that other stage and 've seen them for a few minutes.
Kill the Noise — ja
Ocelot and Best Coast — I guess. whatever.

way better than last year's line-up with a skewed committee unsaved by sucky music taste.

rad night. Super good set.
can't believe I'm the same age as him.
he seemed still a bit unsure in the dj booth, how to interact with the crowd.
kinda shows that he's still not really faced his fame yet.
cute. :)

goddamn. He's the same age as me. (21.)
so f—ing awesome to have seen him play. + to have gotten a picture with him.

He's a mega-celeb in the world of EDM (at least of trance) but his burst to fame has been so rapid he doesn't seem like he's fully comprehending it yet.

Loving to grow up with talented down-to-earth individuals/peers like him.

The Dream Team

UCSD DJs JClarneaux (Jordan Clarno) and CRABRO (Chris Perry) individually have been rocking crowds since 2009 but decided to join forces last year as THE DREAM TEAM. Each of the DJs brings something new and fresh to the table for an end result that will both pique your interest and blow your mind. The two fuse the hottest new electronic tracks with the deepest B-sides as they create their totally unique sets. As a recent finalist in the Sungod DJ Battle, The Dream Team is on the up-and-up, ready to take the world by storm.

Jordan, hailing from the SF Bay Area, brings a passion for trance and house to the duo. His mixing style can be described as meticulous, as he makes sure that there is no beat out of sync and no key out of match. Chris, born and bred in the Dirty South (Atlanta, GA), appropriately brings the grime to the group as he delves into the deepest and filthiest dubstep, hardstyle, and hardcore. When the two come together, what can only be described as electronic greatness emerges. The ultimate amalgamation of styles and genres. The Dream Team.
aaw yeah!
